Visit Bay of Islands approached Search Republic to work with them with the goal of increasing organic traffic through to their website visitboi.co.nz which was redesigned in early 2014.

Visit Bay of Islands promotes the Bay of Islands as a top New Zealand tourist destination and provides information on places to stay, things to do, events that are on and recommended places to eat.

The website was built to increase the voice of its partners, in the domestic market. Accommodation and activities are bookable via the Visit Bay of Islands website, however, this is not unique to visitboi.co.nz, and as such, they are operating in a competitive environment. As a relatively new website, there had been very little done to the website from an SEO perspective.

Search Republic were tasked with making improvements to the Visit Bay of Islands website, from a Search Engine Optimisation perspective, to drive more visitors through to their site.

Implement best practice on and off page SEO methods to increase the visibility and rank of visitboi.co.nz in Google and other Search Engines. This included undertaking comprehensive keyword research, rewriting website content for key category pages and building a stronger external backlink profile to improve domain authority.

As a new website; the backlink profile of the Visit Bay of Islands website wasn’t strong. Search Republic have continued to work on increasing the number of external backlinks pointing to visitboi.co.nz which has contributed to a strengthened domain authority.

Search Republic also created a badge for official partners of Visit Bay of Islands to display on their websites.

Capture users searching for ‘Bay of Islands’ and related search terms via Google and other Search Engines, thereby increasing the volume of traffic through to the Visit Bay of Islands website from organic traffic sources.

Results

Significant year on year growth in visitors to the website from organic traffic. When compared to the same month in 2014, organic traffic increased 520% in March, 313% in April and 43% in May.
